Causes & Consequences of Wrongful Convictions

  • US Bank 800 Nicollet Mall Minneapolis, MN, 55402 United States (map)

The Great North Innocence Project works to free innocent people from prison and prevent wrongful convictions from occurring in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. Using the levers of litigation, education, and legislative advocacy, the Great North reforms the criminal legal system.

Estimates are that 2% - 7% of people in prison are actually innocent of the crimes for which they have been convicted. Join managing attorney Jim Mayer and communications & community outreach director Hayley Drozdowski-Poxleitner for a morning presentation to explore the causes and consequences of wrongful convictions and how the Great North Innocence Project is remedying these errors and preventing future injustices.
